It's been an amazing year for Conservatives both nationally and locally. In January we welcomed no fewer than seven parliamentary candidates to our Annual Dinner and Campaign Launch. Three of these are now local MPs: Chris Green MP (Bolton West), Will Wragg MP (Hazel Grove), Mary Robinson MP (Cheadle).
In 2016 we face local elections across the City of Manchester. This is a huge organisational and logistical challenge for us as we have to select no fewer that 27 candidates. However, I’m proud to say that for the past two years we have fielded a “full slate” meaning everyone in Manchester has had the chance to vote Conservative. Next year we shall be looking to build on these past successes and the momentum of our tremendous 2015 results. At present we face an entirely Labour council and so we are going so start looking for people to nominate early. If you are interested please come to one of our meetings and speak to us. There are a variety of opportunities across the city. What’s more you don’t need prior experience and we will help you along the way, so come along and find out more at our Members General Meeting on the 28th of September or at the Party Conference.
Over the coming year we shall be also organising lots of member events, socials and meetings. In the past twelve months these have included, a coffee morning, a Sunday luncheon, various pub socials and constituency events including Indian, Chinese and Turkish meals and, of course, our Federation Annual Dinner night. Meanwhile Conservative Future have travelled all around the region campaigning as well as enjoying trips to Brussels and Northern Ireland.
There are plenty of opportunities. So please do come and meet us in person at one of our events! Whether you wish to be involved politically, or just socially you will all be very welcome!
