The party conferences are over and now, more than ever, the choice Britain faces is clear.
On the one hand it's a modern Conservative Party determined to address the concerns of Britain today: cutting the deficit, protecting the NHS, controlling immigration, and offering a real choice on Europe.
On the other hand, it's a deficit-denying, reality-forgetting Labour Party dangerously addicted to borrowing, and hopelessly out of touch with the concerns of hard working families.
So the opportunity for us here in Manchester is obvious. We must challenge the "one-party state" City Hall stuffed with identikit Labour councillors. Over the next few months we'll be doing everything possible to raise our profile with events in all the constituencies and across the city.
